Matt has significant technical, academic, industry and professional experience to enable him to work with technologies across software and artificial intelligence, machine vision, in particular, and high tech including photonics and optics and quantum technologies.

Matt entered the IP profession having gained a First class degree in Astrophysics and a graduate degree in Optics and Photonics and after completing three years in commercial research and development.

At Zeeko Ltd, a precision engineering start-up based in the UK, Matt developed algorithms to optimise the control of Zeeko’s innovative robotic polishing machines. CSR

Matt is a member of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI), a global community, built on trusted relationships, which strengthens the practice of the independent IP attorney in private practice.

The skills and contributions of independent IP attorneys build growth in the companies they serve by helping them protect and build value in their intellectual property assets. The work of the independent IP attorney, and the clients they serve, is a driver in the economic growth of the countries in which they are located. FICPI serves to develop the capabilities of the private practice IP service industry, to ensure we are delivering value to the community of users of the IP system.

Matt has been appointed a member of council of the UK chapter of FICPI in which he works to develop the strength of the private practice IP attorney community in the UK.  He has organised the FICPI-UK’s business practice seminars, inviting speakers from the IP Federation, professional development advisors, and other diverse sources of insight, to develop the understanding of new ideas in the profession and build the relevance of private practice IP firms to better help our client base.

FICPI helps develop younger attorneys in private practice through mentoring and open forums, bringing them together to learn and develop under more senior industry leaders. It also seeks to bring together those senior leaders in private practice, to ensure we are continuing to develop as an industry and meet the evolving needs of our clients.
