Experience

Rosi has extensive experience and technical expertise in patenting physics, medtech, electronics, telecommunications and software inventions. She has particular interest in patents for medical software and electronic and telecommunication equipment and standards. Rosi works with a broad range of clients including multi-nationals, SMEs, micro- and spin-out companies and educational and governmental establishments.

Having owned her own company, Rosi is well aware of the importance of delivering a business-oriented approach for her clients, that aligns legal and technical advice to the structure, size, resources and business strategy of the client. She has substantial experience in the identification and prioritisation of client IP requirements, advising on IP portfolio creation and management, providing patentability and freedom to operate assessments and IP procurement through successful prosecution of patent applications to grant.

Rosi has significant knowledge of the exploitation of IP, providing advice and review of assignment, licence and collaboration agreements, IP clauses in commercial agreements and the organisation of the transfer of IP portfolios. She also provides expertise in the protection of inventions through registered designs and design patents and copyright.

Rosi has an active participation in the wider business community debate on the promotion of innovation in the knowledge economy, providing IP talks and advice in a variety of forums. She is involved in a number of programmes provided by the Catalyst innovation community, including acting as a judge for the annual Invent awards.

Rosi is also a Mentor and Lecturer for the BEng and MEng Engineering Entrepreneurship course in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen’s University, Belfast and an IP Mentor for the Belfast City Council Enterprise Framework.
