Experience

Victoria has experience with a wide range of clients from individual inventors and SMEs to universities and large multi-national companies. Victoria's approach to her role advising on intellectual property matters places a strong emphasis on providing clear and comprehensive advice, tailored to individual clients. Victoria particularly enjoys working closely with inventors and managers to understand their business and uses these relationships to provide strategic advice to her clients.

Victoria specialises in drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to physics-based and computer-implemented inventions, in fields including medtech, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, automotive and space sector technologies.

Victoria also has particular experience prosecuting European patent applications targeted towards technologies underpinning emerging standards and competitor products, and has a high success rate of achieving grant of targeted applications.

Victoria joined HGF in 2016 from academia where she had been working as a post-doctoral researcher, having previously obtained a PhD in Astrophysics in 2013. Victoria's research involved developing new methods of image analysis and model fitting to characterise the properties of galaxies far back in cosmic time. She was also previously involved with research into the detectability of extra-solar planets during her undergraduate Masters project.
