Experience

Sofie is a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney and her work includes providing strategic advice on how to protect inventions and to deliver solutions that are commercially focused and relevant to the client. She easily adapts to her clients’ ways of working and takes a proactive role to support their needs.

Much of Sofie’s work is based around software in various industries, and she has particular experience of software in healthcare, finance, online gaming, mobile phone apps, live events displays, Internet-of Things, Machine-to-Machine and graphical user interface. Sofie also has great experience in Standard related work, in particular telecoms and 3GPP, and understands the technical and commercial relationship between technical standards, patents and patent applications. Much of Sofie’s experience has been in relation to security related inventions in 4G and 5G.

Sofie graduated with a First class degree in Materials Engineering in Medicine, and has a PhD in Biomaterials with focus on developing and characterisation of synthetic bone grafts. She has practical and academic experience in tissue engineering, electron microscopy and material characterisation systems including raman spectroscopy and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. She has also worked with clients seeking patent protection for their medical devices.
