Experience

Sean's approach to legal service delivery is guided first and foremost by a desire to fully understand his clients' commercial objectives. Not only does this allow Sean to gain an insight into the inner workings of industry-leading and engaging brands, it crucially enables him to provide commercially relevant, tailored and cost-effective legal advice. By building open and approachable relationships, both him and his clients are able to maximise their IP and deliver on their business objectives.

Sean is particularly experienced in advising clients on trade mark registrability, protection and enforcement at a UK, EU and international level and is extensively involved in the coordination of multinational filings and management of global trade mark portfolios. Sean has a high record of success in registering “difficult” trade marks through the submission of written arguments and attendance at UK IPO hearings. He also frequently represents clients in contentious matters including trade mark opposition, cancellation and invalidity actions before the UK IPO and EU IPO, and has worked closely with agents around the world in navigating proceedings of this nature in foreign jurisdictions.

Sean has delivered IP training sessions to client management, marketing and R&D teams to enhance their ability to see new opportunities within, and anticipate potential challenges to, their IP portfolios.
