Experience

Aron holds a PhD in molecular and cellular biology and works on a diverse range of largely nucleotide, peptide and cell-based technologies. He has in-depth knowledge of plants and algae, gene editing and DNA repair, with a professional interest in these areas as well as food and drink technologies. He is involved in the Food Technology, Agritech and Gene Editing sector specialisms within the Life Sciences group.

His patent practice draws on six years of research experience, during which he developed a novel gene-editing technique and studied the DNA repair pathways involved in the model green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. He is also experienced in plant-based transient gene expression. His research findings have been published in high-impact journals including Nature Communications and PNAS. During and after his PhD, he worked at a startup specialising in the microalgae-based food industry.

Aron graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an honours degree in Biological Sciences specialising in Plant Science. He completed an undergraduate internship in wheat genetics at the John Innes Centre. He has a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and a PhD from the same university. He joined HGF in 2023.
