HGF continue to be highly ranked in The Legal 500 United Kingdom 2020 rankings

HGF ranked Tier 2 in the regions of PATMA, Yorkshire & The Humber, West Midlands and North West, in The Legal 500 United Kingdom 2020 rankings. HGF are also proud to have 17 “Lawyers” recommended, with Partners Martyn Fish and Marie McMorrow listed as elite “Leading Lawyers”.

The Legal 500 provides the most comprehensive worldwide coverage on recommended Law firms, Lawyers, Attorneys, Advocates, Solicitors and Barristers. The guide states – IP boutique HGF Law has a broad practice, which is particularly noted for its trade mark and patent litigation capabilities in the healthcare and retail sectors. With a breadth of experience, practice head Martyn Fish is frequently instructed on a range of contentious and non-contentious matters relating to patents, trade marks, copyright, design rights and misuse of confidential information. The key patent attorney practitioners are: senior partner and head of electronics Harry Hutchinson in Sheffield; London-based head of engineering Matthew Dixon; chemistry practice head Gary Wilson in Glasgow; Kate Taylor in York, who directs the life sciences group; pharmaceutical team head Andrew Wells in Manchester; head of oppositions and appeals Chris Moore in Birmingham; energy practice head Craig Watson in Aberdeen; and Vanessa Stainthorpe in Sheffield, who leads the medical device department. PATMA – Trade Mark Attorneys

One of the largest teams in the market, even without the deep litigation and patent benches, the firm impresses with its comprehensive trade mark offering and its broad sectorial range, including the retail and fashion, charity and automotive sectors as core areas. The group’s expansion in Europe, namely in Germany, Austria and Ireland, in addition to the opening of its new office in Nottingham attest to the firm’s popularity with international and domestic clients alike. The Leeds-based David Potter directs the practice. Claire Hutchinson retired.
