HGF Retail Webinars: Upcycling, recycling and resale

January 2022

Event date: 1st March 2022

HGF is holding a series of webinars this Spring, covering three different topics:

  • Upcycling, recycling and resale: the impact on fashion and fashion retail
  • Exhaustion of rights: will the UK introduce an international exhaustion of rights regime and what is its impact of retail?
  • The rise of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and its impact on retailers and fashion

The first webinar in this series is Upcycling, recycling and resale: the impact on fashion and fashion retail:

Upcycling, recycling and resale are increasingly important aspects of the fashion and fashion markets driven by increasing environmental concerns, but also simply because they make business sense. However these new aspects of the market raise important considerations for the enforcement of intellectual property rights and how your brand and product quality are controlled and maintained.

Our webinar considered the issues of the exhaustion of IP rights in relation to upcycling, recycling and resale. We looked at some of the recent cases concerning upcycled goods and considerations to take into account with regards to enforcement.

Watch the webinar:

Speakers: Claire Jones, HGF’s Trade Mark Director and Yael Shalem, HGF’s Legal Director
