Dr Adam Hines
Adam is a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney who provides clients with advice across a range of contentious and non-contentious matters. Adam’s practice is diverse including mechanical and chemical fields with a particular emphasis on medical technology.
Adam joined the York office of HGF as a Patent Director in 2019 having previously worked in private practice and as an in-house attorney within the Wound Management division of a multinational healthcare company.
Whilst working in-house, Adam gained considerable experience in dealing with complex contentious matters such as multinational litigation and licensing disputes.
His experience includes all aspects of patent practice including drafting, prosecution, developing patent filing strategies and providing opinions on infringement, freedom to operate and validity. In addition, Adam has considerable experience in preparing and undertaking European oppositions and regularly represents clients at Oral proceedings before the European Patent Office. Adam’s professional interests are diverse spanning mechanical and chemical subject matter with a particular focus on medical technology.
Adam graduated with a BSc in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Warwick in 2002. Following graduation Adam moved to Oxford to work as an organic chemist for a pharmaceutical company and then returned to academia to undertake an MSc in Toxicology at Birmingham University. Remaining in Birmingham, he then completed a PhD in metabolomics and continued further post-doctoral research in this field.
Adam is a qualified European and UK Patent Attorney and holds a post-graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property law from Queen Mary, University of London.
