Experience

Will joined HGF in September 2018 having graduated from Newcastle University with First-Class Honours in Chemistry (MChem) with Industrial Training. Will qualified as a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney in July 2022.

During the third year of his degree, Will undertook an industrial placement at a large pharmaceutical company working as a Synthetic Organic Chemist in the lead optimisation stage of the drug discovery process. Additionally, as part of his final year Master's project, Will investigated the catalytic properties of polymer immobilised ionic liquid stabilised gold nanoparticles and their application in aqueous phase reduction of nitroarenes.

Since joining HGF, Will has gained experience in patent drafting, patent prosecution and freedom-to-operate matters in a range of technical fields. Will has particular experience in the fields of pharmaceuticals, organic synthesis, graphene, polymer chemistry and medical devices.
