Experience

With a background in theoretical physics, Owain has expertise in the fields of physics, electronics and telecommunications, with a particular focus on user equipment, base stations, computer software and 3GPP-related telecommunications standards including 3G, LTE, LTE-A, 4G and 5G (NR).

In addition to having drafted patent applications in these fields, he has significant experience of patent application prosecution at the European Patent Office, including having represented clients at numerous examination Oral Proceedings at the EPO. Owain has also prosecuted patent applications at the UK IPO and worked on oppositions at the EPO.

Owain entered the patent profession in 2013, joining HGF at their York office. In 2016, he qualified as a European Patent Attorney and a Chartered Patent Attorney.
