Experience

Jess is a patent attorney in HGF's Technology and Engineering Group and is based in the Glasgow office. She started out in the patent profession after graduating from the University of Edinburgh with a First Class Master of Physics degree in 2019.

Over the years, Jess has helped clients successfully protect inventions relating to a variety of technologies, such as: semiconductor electronics, optics, sensor systems, medical devices, software and artificial intelligence (AI). She has had the privilege to work with all kinds of clients including multinational corporations, universities, research institutions, startups, spinouts and individual inventors.

Jess’ work primarily centres around drafting and filing patent applications, prosecuting patent applications to grant and handling international patent portfolios. Jess also has significant experience with undertaking intellectual property audits for businesses, providing them with a holistic assessment of their intellectual property position along with recommendations for how to improve their position.

Jess takes pride in her approachable style and is always open to discussing intellectual property with prospective clients over a cup of coffee.
