HGF & Shiga Webinar Recording: Medical devices and bioinformatics / AI diagnostic feedback – law and practice in Europe and Japan

December 2023

Event date: 29th November 2023

“Medical devices and bioinformatics / AI diagnostic feedback – law and practice in Europe and Japan”

The EPC does not allow ‘medical use’ claims for medial devices. So how do you claim such devices and extend the lifespan of these patents not only in Europe but also in Japan?  Bioinformatic methods of analyses can be filed to accompany such patents but how do the different patent offices treat such claims?

In this webinar we shall provide overview of the law and practice in Europe and Japan, review the landscape of who is filing, what and where, examine relevant case law, and look at some practical examples to help gain a better understanding of what is likely patentable and help determine how to draft within the lines.
