The Position
We’re hiring for an IT Infrastructure and Security Engineer to join our team in Leeds to ensure the resilience, security, and efficiency of the firm’s IT infrastructure, supporting the delivery of high-quality legal services. This role is critical in maintaining secure systems, managing infrastructure projects, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and legal sector-specific requirements.
Key Deliverables
Infrastructure Management:
- Design, implement, and maintain core IT infrastructure including servers, storage, networking, and cloud services.
- Monitor system performance and proactively address issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Security Operations:
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity measures including firewalls, endpoint protection, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM tools.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.
Compliance & Risk:
- Ensure systems and processes comply with relevant legal and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus).
- Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and evidence as required.
- Maintain and update IT security policies and procedures.
Project Delivery:
- Collaborate with the Head of IT Operations to deliver infrastructure and security projects on time and within budget.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance security and operational efficiency.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to manage contracts and SLAs.
Support & Collaboration:
- Provide 3rd line support for escalated infrastructure and security issues.
- Work closely with IT Service Desk, Applications, and Legal Tech teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Train and mentor junior IT staff on infrastructure and security best practices.

Technical Knowledge: Understands and can demonstrate, the technical knowledge needed, and the use of technical/specialist processes, systems and tools daily to perform their role.
Qualifications/Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity within a professional services or legal environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware/Hyper-V, networking (LAN/WAN), and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS).
- Experience with security tools such as Sophos, CrowdStrike, or similar.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, GDPR, Cyber Essentials).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate.
- Experience with legal sector applications and data protection requirements.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python).
