Dr Jennifer Uno


Jennifer is a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney with first and doctoral degrees in engineering and considerable experience in the patent field both in the UK and Japan.

Jennifer joined the patent profession in 2001. She has significant experience working with a range of clients including large multinational companies and SMEs. Her technical areas of specialism include mechanical devices and subsea technology (e.g. pipelines, cable protection, vehicles, vessels), medical devices (e.g. wound dressings, vacuum therapy apparatus, retinal treatment devices, waste disposal) and apparatus incorporating aspects of physics or electrochemistry. 

Jennifer spends a great deal of time working on EPO opposition cases, including attending opposition and appeal hearings. She also has considerable experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, advising clients in relation to filing strategy and portfolio management.

Jennifer received an honours degree in mining and mineral engineering, and a PhD in electrochemical gas sensors from the University of Leeds. After university, Jennifer joined a large firm of patent and trade mark attorneys in Osaka, Japan, working on patent prosecution for US and Japanese clients.

Jennifer returned to the UK and joined a patent and trade mark private practice in London, before joining the York office of HGF in 2008.
