Experience

Joanna graduated from the University of Durham with a First Class MChem Honours degree in Chemistry.

In 2006 Joanna joined a major global pharmaceutical company and worked in their late-stage research and development department firstly as an analytical chemist and then as a solid state scientist. Joanna worked on a number of late stage pharmaceutical projects with multi-discipline project teams. Joanna helped define the solid state strategies, such as the selection of a suitable physical form and the control of the physical form, for a number of projects. Joanna also authored the solid state sections of regulatory submissions.

In September 2014 Joanna joined the in-house IP department of the pharmaceutical company. During her time in this department, Joanna gained experience in patent drafting and prosecution. Joanna was responsible for managing the IP portfolio of a number of early and late-stage pharmaceutical projects.

Joanna joined HGF’s Manchester office in October 2017 and has worked with a number of different clients including pharmaceutical companies and Universities. Joanna has been involved with preparing submissions for opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO.
