Edward worked as an engineer in the steel industry before embarking on a PhD where he conducted experimental research on carbon fibre composites for the aerospace industry with improved strength and damage sensing capabilities. Having completed his PhD he moved into the world of patents and initially gained 9 months experience in a patent attorney firm drafting patent specifications and responding to examiner's objections. From there he moved to the patent litigation department of a law firm where he undertook technical research on disputed patents and assisted lawyers in common general knowledge questions and sourcing evidence for court cases. Having spent two years there he moved to HGF in February 2021 where he took on the role of Professional Standards Officer.
