Dr Alasdair Mackenzie

Trainee Patent Attorney

Alasdair joined HGF in February 2018 as a Trainee Patent Attorney as part of the Engineering team, based in the Glasgow office.

Alasdair works on numerous technologies and industries including: oil and gas, aviation, renewables, transportation, automotive, electrical,  filtration, and mechanical engineering. He has experience in working with a variety of clients, from large international companies to single applicants/inventors.

Alasdair completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Bournemouth UK in 2019, which he passed with Merit.

Alasdair graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, in 2014 with a first-class BEng degree in Aero-Mechanical Engineering. He followed this on by completing a PhD from the same university in the field of computational fluid dynamics in the Weir Advanced Research Centre. His research involved creating a new erosion model using only open-source programs. This was to enable the company to design pumps of better quality. He has presented and published his work in various international conferences and research journals.
