Test Driving the UPC Case Management Software

November 2014

A prototype e-filing/case management system for the UPC has been made available to test. It aims to get feedback from real users across Europe and beyond. Users can try out filing an infringement claim in the UPC. See more here. HGF have now tried out the system.

As online court management systems aren’t the norm for the UK, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. However the system felt intuitive and straight forward to use; basic form filling and easy to navigate. We felt the real issue will be how reliable it is when it comes to uploading documents.

When more detailed particulars are to be uploaded by the user format would appear not to be important, certainly under the prototype system. This may not result in a uniform statement of claim and was our main concern. But
provided this is addressed by having full guidance on what form any uploaded documents should take, it might not be a huge problem.

The prototype is still available for testing and feedback until the end of November.
