Experience

Mehreen understands that no two companies have the same commercial aim and therefore offers bespoke, high quality IP advice and services to her clients across the chemical and pharmaceutical sector.

She has extensive experience in various stages of development on IP strategies, from managing multi-jurisdictional patent portfolios for large corporations to working with SMEs and start-ups to assist in the identification of inventions. She is committed to ensure that her clients’ current and future activities are protected by developing patent strategies to maximise the value of their IP.

Her primary work includes drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications, post-grant opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. She also advises on contentious matters relating to due diligence, providing advice on patent validity, infringement/freedom-to-operate, IP-licensing and assignment deals.

Mehreen specialises in chemistry and undertakes work in a diverse range of technology areas including pharmaceuticals, small molecules, drug formulations, polymers, composites, 3D printing inks, organic electric materials, electrochemical fuel cells and medical devices.

She regularly collaborates with foreign counsel on European practices and coordinates the prosecution of global patent portfolios, including key areas of Europe, Japan, India, China and the US.

Mehreen joined HGF in 2022 as a European Patent Attorney in the Chemistry group having previously worked for another leading IP firm.
