Experience

Louise joined HGF in September 2018 as a trainee patent attorney. Louise qualified as a European Patent Attorney in July 2022 and a Chartered UK Patent Attorney in March 2023.

Prior to joining HGF Louise graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2013 with a First Class MSci honours degree in Chemistry. Alongside her undergraduate studies, Louise also worked in industry, undertaking two summer placements in the Research and Development team at Scott Bader.

Louise then went on to obtain her PhD in 2018 from the same University. Louise's research involved the de novo design of peptide architectures for use as imaging agents. During her PhD she spent two months working with collaborators in San Sebastian. This work was presented at several international conferences and resulted in a number of publications.

Following the completion of her PhD, Louise completed two research fellow posts at the University of Birmingham, the first in the School of Chemistry and the second in the Institute of Microbiology and Infection. Here she explored topical treatments for age-related macular degeneration, presenting her work at the ARVO Annual Meeting in Hawaii. Alongside this project, she assisted in researching the development of smart coatings for implant materials.

Since joining HGF, Louise has gained experience in patent drafting, patent prosecution, portfolio and budget management, freedom-to-operate matters and patent oppositions, in a range of technical fields.
