Experience

Emma is a highly experienced non-contentious lawyer, providing strategic and transactional legal advice to clients across a variety of sectors. She has 20 years' legal experience and holds an LLB in Law with Business; a Masters in International IP Law; a Masters in Technology Law; and a Postgraduate in Sports Law.

Emma has particular expertise in IP, IT and data law (including new technologies and AI) and mainly works with technology, life sciences and retail sector clients, educational institutions and spin-out companies.

Prior to joining HGF Law, Emma worked in Big Four, US, and City private practice firms. She also has in-house legal experience as Senior Legal Counsel at global biotech AbbVie and Legal Counsel at global RPO AMS. Emma also seconded / provided day-to-day legal support into Global Commercial Ops and Technology teams at British American Tobacco; Takeda Pharmaceuticals; and Ferring Pharmaceuticals.

Emma specialises in drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including: licensing; research and development; collaboration and joint ventures; manufacture / distribution; cloud, sourcings and outsourcings; and services and supply contracts. She has extensive experience of advising on IP and IT licensing transactions; undertaking IP / IT due diligence on large multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions; and working on corporate structurings and restructurings with a significant IP / IT focus.

Outside of work Emma spends time with her three boys (aged 16, 13 and 6), swimming and going to the gym. She is an ex-international swimmer and still trains and competes for Otters Masters, London.
