Role purpose
We are looking for a PQ/NQ Trade Mark Attorney to join our Trade Mark team in Birmingham. We are also really interested to hear from those with up to 1 year PQE. This position offers a developed portfolio of client facing work from day one across a diverse mix of trade mark tasks and clients, including pharma, automotive, healthcare, retail, cosmetics and more. In addition to the existing caseload, the role offers the chance to engage in the development of new clients, with the incoming individual fully supported in developing a client portfolio of their own over the longer term.
Main responsibility
The role will be a client facing position supporting across the full range of trade mark activities, including but not limited to:
- Clearance searching and advice to clients regarding new trade marks and designs
- Advising on trade mark and design filing strategies, chances of successfully securing registrations and likely legal costs
- Managing trade mark and design applications from filing to grant, both domestically and internationally
- Advising on the enforcement and maintenance of trade mark and design rights
- Providing portfolio management advice to clients
- Developing business with existing clients
- Working with the wider Trade Mark team to identify marketing opportunities and targeting new clients
- Attending and contributing to relevant conferences and client events.
Candidate essential experience, qualifications and skills
- PQ/NQ Trade Mark Attorney, up to 1 year of post-qualified experience will be considered
- Confident in working with a level of autonomy and independence
- An interest in getting involved in business development activity and supporting others
- Comfortable working within a team and managing workflow with the Formalities/Paralegal team
- Ability to express complex technical ideas clearly and concisely
- An eye for detail
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
- Confident and credible client management
- Ability to develop successful working relationships with a wide variety of people
- Readiness to take responsibility
- Proactive approach to tasks and problem solving.
