Professional Support Director

Estelle is a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney and joined HGF in 2013 to manage legal knowledge and information at HGF.  As Professional Support Director, Estelle provides HGF fee earners and clients with up-to-date knowledge and training on IP law and legal and procedural developments, reporting directly to the Professional Practice partner.

The purpose of the Professional Support function is to ensure consistently high quality services and procedures across HGF through the provision of legal and technical information to patent attorneys, trade mark attorneys, our solicitors and other internal teams.

Estelle graduated from Dundee University with a degree in Chemistry (1st Hons) in 2000. Estelle began her IP career at the Ministry of Defence, where she was responsible for IP contracts advice and commercial agreements for Air Systems as well as prosecution and enforcement of patent portfolios arising from Government research establishments. Estelle moved into private practice in 2007 and qualified as a UK patent attorney in 2008.  In 2009 Estelle began working at a leading UK university to manage the team that provided the delivery of functions relating to the commercialisation of the university’s IP, including drafting the university’s IP licenses and responsibility for administration of the patent acquisition process.

Estelle brings a broad range of relevant IP and commercial skills to the Professional Support role.
