Experience

Yulia’s expertise lies in the area of materials science and engineering. She specialises in various aspects of materials manufacturing and technology with a particular emphasis on medical devices. Her main areas of interest lie in the prosecution, searching and competitor monitoring, as well as IP audits.

Yulia obtained her Masters (Hons) Degree in Chemistry from Tula State University, Russia in 2005.

She then worked for the Russian Police Force as a forensic expert/crime scene investigator, specialising in forensic analytical chemistry. In 2009 she moved to the UK to undertake her PhD in the chemistry of materials for the manufacturing of fine chemicals and commodities, which she completed in 2012.

In 2013-17 she worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Universities of Sheffield and Bradford where she focused on managing a number of projects in the areas of biomedical and pharmaceutical engineering.

Having worked in collaboration with several SMEs from both the UK and EU as part of her research activities, she used her experience and knowledge in the area of materials engineering and technology for orthopaedics and drug delivery systems to bridge the gap between industries and academia.

She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since July 2016.
