Madonna Producer Succeeds in Royalty Appeal Against Warner Music

A New York appeals court has held that Shep Pettibone, the producer of Madonna’s 1990 hit “Vogue” is entitled to back royalties from Warner Music Group, following a dispute over an indemnity provision in an agreement.

European Council adopts digital single market copyright directive
April 2019
The controversial Copyright Directive (2016/0280), which aims to modernise EU copyright rules ensuring development of a “robust and well-functioning digital single market” has been approved, backed by 19 countries at an EU Council Vote. Six countries voted against the Directive. The Directive will now be published in the Official Journal of the EU following which member states will have two years to bring in local laws implementing the Directive.

Brexit Delay Agreed - Update on EU and UK Trade Mark Protection

The EU has agreed to grant the UK a further extension of time (until 31 October 2019) to finalise the terms of how the UK leaves the EU. This removes the “cliff edge” of the UK potentially leaving the EU without a deal on 12 April 2019.
