Preparing for change: UK to Ratify UPC Agreement

The UK government has confirmed it is proceeding with preparations to ratify the Unified Patent Court Agreement. Despite the vote to Brexit, the UK government has announced it will continue with preparations for ratification over the coming months. This has come as a surprise to many who expected Brexit to be a barrier to ratification by the UK.

The Court of Appeal has dismissed Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc’s. (Idenix) appeal against Mr Justice Arnold Judgment revoking Indenix’s patent covering Flaviviridae compounds for treating Hepatitis C.

Following in the recent footsteps of HRH The Princess Royal, HGF’s Aberdeen team was fortunate to have a tour of Aberdeen based manufacturer and supplier of bespoke and handcrafted beds and mattresses, Glencraft’s facilities. Craig Watson, Partner in HGF Aberdeen, then had the honour of presenting Glencraft with its official Trade Mark registration certificate.

Grey goods are not so grey anymore: Court of Appeal confirms sale of ‘grey’ goods capable of being deemed a criminal offence

The recent Court of Appeal decision in R v C and Others [2016] EWCA Crim 1617 has confirmed that sale of grey goods can be met by criminal sanctions under Section 92 of the Trade Marks Act 1994 (‘the Act’), which can amount to a maximum of 10 years imprisonment.
