The University of Oxford - Seminar
Increasingly academic researchers need to sign MTAs to access reagents. While this can accelerate research progress, IP issues can limit your freedom to develop and commercialise your innovations. Many of the technologies used in academic research (such as CRISPR) are subject to active patent protection, and research exemptions do not always provide freedom, even in a university environment.
Discussing when collaboration collides with commercialisation, this seminar will discuss the challenges faced when trying to commercially develop your ideas, and aims to identify smart strategies to avoid some of the pitfalls.
