UKIPO IP Audits Plus 2015/16 - Grants to Assist SMEs Develop their IP Strategy

April 2015

The UKIPO is now receiving applications for the 2015/16 IP Audits Plus scheme, which will run until March 2016.

This year, the UKIPO is working alongside three partners; Business Growth Service (BGS) covering England, Welsh Government covering Wales and Scottish Enterprise covering Scotland.  The scheme will put businesses in touch with a Business Growth Manger who will oversee and submit an audit application to the IPO on their client’s behalf.

The aim of the service is to connect businesses with good quality guidance and advice along with the services that they need to make their IP work for them as they work to grow their business. The purpose of the IP audit is to allow the business to gain a clear picture of their IP assets, to ensure they are able to manage their own IP and develop an effective management plan or strategy to grow their business.  The service can’t be used to prepare and file an application for a patent, registered trade mark or registered design.

The total funding available to a business for an IP Audit is £3,000 (including VAT) .  For applications through BGS, the IPO will contribute £2,600 (including VAT) to the cost of the IP Audit report. The business is expected to contribute the remaining £400 (including VAT).

HGF has developed a breadth and depth of expertise in carrying out IP Audits.  We can match our IP professionals to your business and tailor the audit accordingly, for example a combination of expertise in patents, trademarks and designs.  We can also put you in touch with our contacts within the relevant IPO Partner business support schemes.

For further advice on this or any other IP matter, please contact Vanessa Stainthorpe, or your usual HGF representative or visit our contact page.
