Dr Georgina Wilkins
What first attracted you to a career at HGF?
I was new to the profession when I started at HGF. I was attracted by HGF’s growth through tough economic times and their modern approach to training.
What opportunities for progression and development have you had since you joined the Firm?
I have had the opportunity to read IP Law at the University of Manchester where I fell in love with the subject and graduated with a distinction. I have also qualified as a Chartered patent attorney by sitting the UK final examinations. I have spearheaded a firm-wide tutorial system for professional examinations to support my peers in their preparation with the professional examinations which has proved incredibly popular and successful. I have also visited the UKIPO to attend interviews with a number of UKIPO examiners, and I have participated as an advocate in the HGF Mooting competition where my team won.
What are the most enjoyable aspects of your role at HGF?
I enjoy working with a broad range of clients from larger corporations to smaller local companies who are just embarking on growing their IP portfolios. I enjoy working on due diligence for larger corporations and making a contribution to their IP strategy. I enjoy advising on contentious issues and finding solutions to problems.
What makes you stay at HGF?
I stay at HGF because HGF has a fantastic work environment which makes it a pleasure to be a part of. I also work with an interesting range of clients, and enjoy working with supportive colleagues.
If you had to describe working for HGF in just three words, what would they be?
Stimulating, satisfying, enjoyable.
