Senior Patent Attorney
Sofie has worked in a wide variety of technologies including telecommunication, Internet of Things, Machine-to-Machine and software with a particular focus on security related inventions. She also has experience in mechanical and medical device inventions.
Sofie has considerable experience in patent drafting and prosecution. She has worked with domestic and international companies of all sizes. She seeks to understand her clients’ commercial and strategic goals and tailors her intellectual property advice accordingly. She easily adapts to her clients’ ways of working and takes a proactive role to support their needs.
Sofie has previously worked as an in-house attorney for a leading Information Communication Technology company and so has gained great experience in telecommunications, networking components, applications, systems that allow people and organisations to interact in the digital world. She has particularly enjoyed working on SIM and encryption related inventions.
Her background working both in private practice and industry has helped Sofie to develop experience not only of managing large patent portfolios and exploitation of patents, but also providing strategic advice in relation to product launch, infringement, due diligence and freedom-to-operate. Sofie also has experience in developing strategies for evaluating, filing and declaring standards essential patents in particular in the field of 5G.
Sofie holds a first class degree in Materials Engineering and a PhD in Biomaterials. She entered the profession in 2008 working at another London based patent firm before moving in-house.
