Trade Mark Attorney

Sean is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in HGF’s London Office.

Sean regularly advises clients on trade mark registrability, protection and enforcement at a UK, EU and International level and has been extensively involved in the coordination of multinational filings and management of global trade mark portfolios. He is particularly adept at overcoming distinctiveness refusals, holding a high record of success in registering “difficult” trade marks through the submission of written arguments and attendance at UK IPO hearings. Sean also frequently represents clients in contentious matters including trade mark opposition, cancellation and invalidity actions before the UK IPO and EU IPO, and has worked closely with agents around the world in navigating proceedings of this nature in foreign jurisdictions.

Sean has worked closely with clients across a diverse range of industries including in retail, food and drink, financial services, technology and entertainment. He works with his clients in order to understand their commercial objectives and tailors his advice accordingly with a view to providing the most commercially relevant and cost effective service possible.

Sean obtained distinctions in both of the UK trade mark attorney postgraduate qualifications, and became fully qualified in 2018. He also holds an LLM from the University of Glasgow in Intellectual Property Law & the Digital Economy.
