Scott joined HGF from another London firm of patent attorneys in November 2018 and is in the Engineering Group. Scott is a UK and European Patent Attorney and has worked in a wide variety of technologies including manufacturing, medical devices and mechanical inventions across different industries.
Scott has a wealth of experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for a variety of different clients. Scott has also attained considerable experience in performing due diligence work, including providing infringement and validity advice, and acting to mitigate risk by challenging patents and patent applications.
In private practice Scott has worked with a variety of clients, large and small, in industries that cover manufacturing, medical devices, consumer goods, packaging, automotive, aerospace, and others.
Scott has also completed a secondment at an in-house patents team working on tasks such as identifying new inventions, portfolio management, and providing advice to stakeholders within the business. This combination of private practice and in-house experience allows Scott to offer a service tailored to a client’s needs, and to provide clear and business-relevant advice.
Scott holds a first class Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath. During his studies Scott completed a placement year at an engineering company that designed and built high speed machinery for the FMCG sector. Scott entered the profession in 2011, working at another London based patent firm before moving to HGF. Scott is a fully qualified UK and European Patent Attorney.
