Specialising in the field of electronics, Richard has particular experience in the areas of mobile devices, data storage systems, communication networks and computer implemented inventions.
His practice encompasses drafting patent applications and overseeing their prosecution in the UK, Europe and overseas, opposing and defending granted patents before the European Patent Office, and advising on infringement and validity issues. Richard is also experienced in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for mechanical inventions and medical devices, including filtration systems and orthopaedic devices.
Richard has worked with a range of clients, from private individuals, universities and small start up companies to large international corporations. As a result, he is experienced in providing advice on patent portfolio management and filing strategies.
Richard joined the profession in 2003 after working as a communications engineer following graduating in Electronic Engineering from the University of York in 2001. He qualified as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney in 2006 and as a European Patent Attorney in 2007 whilst working for a Leeds based firm of patent attorneys. Richard joined the York office of HGF in January 2012.
