Nick is a Chartered and European Patent Attorney who advises clients on a wide range of patent matters in the fields of physics, electronics and computer implemented inventions. Nick joined the London office of HGF in July 2016.
Nick specialises in patent matters in a wide range of high technology fields. Nick has particular experience in the fields of optics, high precision measurement systems, lithographic systems and computer implemented technologies. His work includes drafting patent applications, prosecuting patent applications in the UK and Europe and managing prosecution of worldwide patent portfolios. Nick also has experience of advising on patent infringement and validity matters.
Nick has experience of working with a wide variety of different clients including universities, SMEs and large multinational corporations. He enjoys helping clients to identify patentable inventions and secure commercially useful protection for their technology.
Prior to joining HGF Nick spent several years at another leading firm of patent attorneys. He qualified as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2015 and as a European Patent Attorney in 2016.
Nick graduated from the University of Manchester in 2009 with a first class master’s degree in physics. As part of his degree he spent a year studying at the University of California where he conducted research projects in plasma physics and mass spectrometry. Nick then went on to gain a PhD in atmospheric physics in Manchester. His research focused on using remote sensing measurements taken from satellites to investigate radiative transfer processes in the atmosphere.
