Martin Connors

Patent Director

Martin is a qualified European, Irish and UK Patent Attorney with over 20 years of experience in the medical, engineering, and manufacturing sectors.

Martin spent 19 of those years with the in-house patents department of a multi-national FTSE 100 healthcare company. In that time he gained a deep understanding of the patent issues in the field of wound management, and acquired a broad medical field experience including orthopaedics and endoscopy. As a result of this role Martin has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications for a worldwide portfolio. He has considerable knowledge and experience in oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office, and in providing opinions and advice relating to freedom to operate and acquisitions, as well as multinational patent litigations. In particular, Martin is able to apply his extensive product launch experience to the challenges faced by clients in order to provide comprehensible, commercially focused advice.

After graduating from the University of Aberdeen with an honours degree in Microbiology, Martin continued working at the University of Aberdeen on an immunology research project.

Martin is an examiner for the UK Patent Examination Board, which is the authority that sets the qualifying exams to become a Chartered Patent Attorney (UK).
