John Reddington


John has twenty-four years’ experience working in the field of trade marks. After a short period as a commercial litigator John began his career in trade marks with a multi-national pharmaceutical company, moving on to head the London trade mark department of one of the world’s largest international law firms, where he practised for 11 years. Subsequently he spent a further 11 years as head of trade marks with a London-based boutique IP firm, before joining HGF as a consultant in 2018.

John's practice has focused on managing international trade mark portfolios for global clients, and his expertise covers searches, clearance, dispute resolution, parallel import and other trade mark infringement matters, and all aspects of trade mark portfolio management.

He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, qualified by examination, and a professional representative authorised to practice before the UK, EU and World intellectual property offices. Additionally, he qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1992, has taught on IP courses for CITMA and Bristol University, has been a CITMA examiner and is a member of several trade mark professional associations.
