Experience

Jerry has over a decade of experience in the patent profession, with experience of a broad range of technologies including aerospace, medical devices, renewables, solid state and process chemistries and industrial chemistry.

Jerry has extensive experience in particular in the field of Aerospace composites and aerostructure design and manufacture. His experience in medical devices includes a wide range of transcatheter technology, pulse oximetry and laryngoscopy. Jerry’s practice also includes chemical and materials technologies, renewable energy and petrochemical technologies, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Jerry holds a first class M. Chem from the University of Oxford and went on to obtain a PhD from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, in the field of solid state NMR spectroscopy.
On returning to the UK Jerry spent time in industrial R&D and university technology transfer, before joining the patent profession in 2007. He moved to the Edinburgh office of HGF in September 2015, from another top-tier UK firm.

Jerry has extensive experience of drafting and prosecuting applications before the EPO and UKIPO, and managing international patent portfolios. In addition, he has advised his clients on patent infringement and validity, and assisted in due diligence on behalf of his clients.
