Before entering the patent profession, Jason spent five years in technical sales at a multinational manufacturer of plastic injection moulding equipment in Luxembourg and the UK. He is a European Patent, Trade Mark & Design Attorney, a Chartered UK Patent Attorney and has successfully completed the USPTO Patent Bar Exam. Jason's commercial experience shapes his approach to advising clients; Jason delivers commercially-focused outcomes that add real value to client’s businesses.
His practice covers a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical technologies with a particular emphasis on aerospace, automotive and packaging. Jason has specific knowledge and experience in injection moulding and plastics processing technologies, engines and transmission systems, aerodynamics, defence & assault equipment, renewable energy harvesting equipment, medical devices and diagnostic systems.
The majority of Jason's work is in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications throughout the world for both SMEs and multinationals. Jason regularly advises clients on infringement avoidance and freedom to operate, portfolio enforcement and dispute resolution matters. He has also advised on multi-jurisdiction portfolio acquisitions, assisted with High Court proceedings and secured successful outcomes in EPO oppositions and examination hearings and UK IP Office Opinions.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Waterloo, Canada and is a qualified pilot (EASA Part-FCL IMC/IRR), which gives him a particular insight into aerospace technologies. He is also bilingual (French & English) and is a tutor for the European Patent Institute, helping to prepare candidates for the European Patent Attorney qualifying examinations.
