Dr Wendy Teunissen
Wendy is a European and Dutch Qualified Patent Attorney with considerable experience in the chemistry and chemical engineering field. She holds a PhD in heterogeneous catalysis from the Utrecht University in the Netherlands, and has previously been an in-house patent attorney and portfolio advisor at an International Oil Company.
Wendy specialises in patents in the fields of chemistry, catalytic processes, materials science and chemical process engineering.
Her experience includes patent portfolio management, filing and worldwide prosecution, including direct representation in opposition proceedings, and development of intellectual property strategies using competitive technology intelligence (CTI). She also enjoys giving IP awareness training to scientists, managers and entrepreneurs.
She joined the patent profession in 2003, and prior to joining HGF worked for a large International Oil Company and small start-ups. Wendy uses her extensive in-house experience, where she also worked directly for the CTO strategy team, to provide commercially focused IP advice, and to help clients identify and protect their IP assets.
Her practice also includes obtaining and defending patent rights, providing opinions on freedom-to-operate where third party intellectual property rights exist, conducting due diligence to support corporate acquisitions, and challenging third party patent rights. Wendy joined HGF in 2018, and her clients include start-ups, large corporate companies and universities.
