Dr Milena Pawlik
Trainee Patent Attorney
Milena joined the Engineering Group at the Aberdeen office in 2018 as a Trainee Patent Attorney.
Milena joined HGF from academia where she gained experience in research and scientific computing, as well as image and data analysis.
She graduated from the University of Edinburgh in the UK in 2012 with a Master of Physics (Honours Astrophysics) degree. During her Masters project, Milena was involved in developing numerical simulations using hydrodynamics to mimic the dynamical conditions in the vicinity of supermassive black holes present in the centres of many galaxies.
In 2016, she was awarded a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. During her time as a research student she developed a self-contained code for image analysis and introduced a novel method for detecting faint structures in galaxy mergers.
After obtaining her PhD, Milena worked as a Research Fellow for two years, during which time she was part of various collaborations and presented her work at many conferences both in the UK and internationally.
