Dr Georgina Wilkins
Georgina is a Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney with first and doctoral degrees in physics and electronics. Georgina works as a client manager and as part of a team providing external counsel for well-known science-based European and US companies to secure and defend patent and design rights throughout the world. She also advises start-up companies and independent inventors.
Georgina has many years’ experience drafting and prosecuting patent and design applications for different technologies including physics related inventions such as fuel cells, wind turbines, and health related monitors, electronics related inventions such as navigation systems, power electronics and graphical user interfaces, and medical devices such as vaccination devices, capsule endoscopes, and pregnancy testing devices. She also has experience of the opposition procedure and opposition hearings at the European Patent Office.
One of Georgina’s strengths is her ability to quickly build successful working relationships with her clients and their inventors, and her commitment to understanding and meeting her clients’ needs.
Georgina joined the patent profession after several years working as a research scientist and lecturer alongside industrial companies including a world leading coatings company, studying colloidal systems and a multinational consumer goods corporation developing methodologies to investigate the dynamics of rod gels and glasses. Georgina’s research background and her experience working in industry gives her a breadth of knowledge of the methods and techniques used in a variety of engineering, physics, electronics and nanotechnology applications.
