Dr David Williams
David has particular experience protecting inventions in the energy, mechanical and chemical industries. David works as the client manager and part of a team providing external counsel for well-known international energy companies. He also advises independent inventors and SMEs helping them build a commercially useful patent portfolio.
David has many years’ experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications for downhole tools, subsea equipment and well-treatment chemicals for the oil and gas industry. He also has clients who specialise in the development of intrinsically safe devices and semiconductors. One of his strengths is his commitment to understanding his client's business and ensuring they receive the best advice and service by developing strong personal ties. David predominantly advises his clients on their patent portfolio but also advises on designs and copyright.
David joined the patent profession in 2006 after a Master's in Science degree and PhD in chemistry and catalysis from the University of Glasgow. He joined HGF in April 2012 to help develop the then new HGF Aberdeen office.
