European Patent Attorney

Clara joined HGF’s Glasgow office in February 2019. She has experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnological and oil and gas fields. Clara has also conducted freedom to operate, infringement and patentability opinions.

Clara qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2017 and has five years of experience. She routinely drafts and prosecutes patent applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnological and oil and gas fields. Clara has also conducted freedom to operate, infringement and patentability opinions.

Prior to becoming a patent attorney Clara studied a MSci in Chemistry in the University of the Basque Country (Spain), completing her final year at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow) as part of the Erasmus program.

Clara continued her education in the University of Strathclyde, obtaining a PhD in Materials Chemistry in 2013. Her PhD involved synthesising and characterising organic semiconductor small molecules for applications in organic semiconductor lasers and OLEDs.

During her PhD she also spent four months at McGill University (Montreal), where she studied the self-assembly of the molecules she had synthesised by two-photon microscopy.
